Eyelid Surgery

With the passing of time, it is inevitable that our faces lose volume and skin becomes less elastic, causing the brows the descend and our eyes to appear weary, with drooping excess skin.

Though age is inevitable, you can alter the message your eyes are sending to the world with eyelid surgery.

What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty refers to eyelid surgery or and eyelid lift. Blepharoplasty can be performed on the top eyelids, bottom eyelids, or both to remove excess skin, reduce sagging, and improve the look of drooping eyelids. Leaving you looking more rested awake and youthful.

Benefits of Eyelid Surgery
  • Removal of hooded eyelid skin
  • Reduced puffiness
  • Decreased bags under eyes
  • Improved vision from removal of overhanging eyelids
  • Refreshed appearance
  • Brighter, more appealing eyes
What is Eyelid surgery like?
Eye surgery is as unique as the patient, so there's no one-size-fits-all. Your blepharoplasty will be performed either under twilight sedation (light anesthesia) or you have the option to proceed in office with local anesthetic. We call this our LUNCHTIME LIFT (Not put to sleep)

What happens during upper eyelid surgery?
Extra tissue on the upper eyelid can make your eyes look droopy, tired and small.
In the surgical procedure, an incision is created along the natural crease of the eyelid. Excess skin and possible fat is removed to make the eye appear more open and alert.

How do I prepare for eyelid surgery?

1

Preparation

Whether you undergo eyelid surgery for upper eyelids, bags under eyes, skin removal or brow lift, each eyelid surgery has specific pre- and post op instructions. Prior to your procedure, Dr. Costin and our team will go over specific guidelines in detail with you. From the week prior to surgery through the end of your recovery.

2

Patients are sent home with post op instructions, ice packs and any medications. At this time our patients are already aware of aftercare instructions. Patients are to avoid strenuous exercise or lifting anything heavier than 5 pounds until sutures are removed. Typical suture removal time is 5-7 days after procedure.

3

Recovery

Dr. Costin focuses exclusively in the field of facial plastic surgery, he has a greater depth of experience and expertise performing eyelid surgeries. This allowing him to complete even the most complex procedures with minimal swelling and discomforts. Our patients often find recovery much easier than what they were expecting. Most patients are able to return to work in as short as 5 days.

Eyes are the focal point of the face. You look at them. Other people look at them. Time to let them speak.

WHY REFRESH YOUR EYES?

When you look in the mirror, where do you look? The region around the eyes is subject to the changes of time in a manner impossible to hide. Excess skin, bags, drooping, and hollows are just some of the issues we see when we look at ourselves. Upper eyelids, the eyebrows, lower lids, and cheeks can be addressed with procedures both surgical and non-surgical.

TAILORED APPROACH

We all look different. The left and right sides can even differ in the same person. These intricacies are critical to note before developing a plan so that each nuance can be addressed to maximize results. Listening to and identifying these details is a fundamental principle to our practice and plans so you can be sure each detail is prioritized.
